Lünen, 18. August 2008. Dream Multimedia, the leading supplier of Linuxbased
set-top boxes, will be presenting the DM8000 HD PVR DVD at the IFA
show in Berlin, the absolute top-of-the-range solution for digital TV reception.
The new HDTV receiver will be available to the trade at the end of September,
at that stage review units will also be made available to the media.
The DM8000 functions as a home server, combining TV, DVD as well as PC
and recording functions all in one unit, via LAN or WLAN. The high quality of
reception, fast channel switching times and user-friendly operation are
already typical hallmark features of all Dreamboxes. What is new here is the
option to install a DVD player or recorder in the DM8000. Naturally, this latest
Dreambox can be expanded to become a PVR, using SATA and commercially
available hard drive options.
Two DVB S2 tuners provide timeshift as well as parallel television viewing and
recording of two different programmes. In addition, two additional tuners can
be easily brought on line via plug-and-play. Four slots for Common Interface
modules as well as two Smartcard readers provide all the options a Pay-TV
fan could desire.
Two USB 2.0 connections, one slot each for CF and SD cards, as well as digital
optical and coaxial sound output options ensure that every possible wish is
fulfilled in terms of connectivity. The DVI interface ensures loss-free
transmission of the digital image to the television set. In addition, the
DM8000 comes equipped with a YUV as well as with two Scart connections.
The DM8000 HD PVR DVD by Dream will be launched on the market at a RRP
of 899 Euros (excluding hard drive and DVD).
