"It took about a week of exchanging e-mails with one of the DGStation developers, but then it became clear:
- there is a RTC on board the HD900;
- but it has no backup battery, so it looses it's memory when the power is switched off;
- the Linux kernel is not able to read the RTC, hence Linux sets its time to nonsense upon boot;
- the RTC can not be set using for example 'hwclock' or another Linux application;
- you can set the Linux clock (by hand, or using ntpdate etc.), but that does not set the RTC;
- the sbox application however can read and set the RTC;
- the sbox application does not check the Linux clock
- the call used by sbox to set the clock is not part of the current SDK API of sbox
- DGS will make the call that sets the RTC part of the next release of the plugin SDK"
